Ian Davis has extensive experience as a physiotherapist with over 30 years working in the field.
He works with all age groups and across a wide spectrum of injuries from everyday traumatic injuries (e.g. falling down stairs) to promoting peak performance in Olympic athletes.
Common injuries include back, neck , shoulder, arm, hip, knee and ankle problems. The pain and limitations caused by whiplash (an injury caused by a severe jerk to the head, typically in a car accident) can also be alleviated.
During your assessment Ian will examine the nerves, muscles and joints to find the source of the pain so he can treat the cause of the pain and not just the symptom.
Very often the pain you feel is actually caused in another part of the body. For example, Sciatica is pressure on a nerve in the low back that can result in pain in the leg.
The assessment of the injury will also look at your postural alignment, particularly examining the area from the spine and pelvis down to the knees and ankles. How you sit, stand and bend can have an adverse effect on many seemingly unrelated parts of the body.
Working with Ian, you will be able to avoid unnecessarily overloading the body and develop a more stable, flexible and strong body to cope with the demands you place upon it.
